SUMMARY:Craft: Papier-Mâché Trays
DESCRIPTION:Two-Class Saturday Morning Series \nThis is not your childhood papier-mâché project! Turn humble cardboard and paper into a pair of sculptural decorative trays you’ll actually want on display. Guided by instructor Carson Eddy\, this two-session series walks you step by step from flat cardboard to finished\, display-worthy pieces. Pre-designed patterns remove the guesswork\, and all materials are provided. \nLimited seats available. Registration closes February 5. \nIn the first class\, you’ll cut and assemble sturdy cardboard forms from ready-made patterns\, then build up the first layers of papier-mâché that give your trays strength and structure. Between sessions\, your pieces dry at the studio. When you come back\, the fun part begins: you’ll pick your decorative papers\, add the final layer\, and finish with a protective sealer. \nYou’ll leave with two one-of-a-kind trays\, about 9″ or 11″ long and 5″ or 5.5″ wide. They work well for jewelry\, keys\, or desk odds and ends\, or as a handmade gift. Whether you’re new to paper crafts or just haven’t touched papier-mâché since grade school\, all you need to bring is your curiosity and a love of making things with your hands. \nWhat you’ll learn in this papier-mâché workshop: \n\nBuilding sturdy cardboard forms from patterns\nLayering papier-mâché for strength and a smooth surface\nChoosing and applying decorative papers for a polished look\nSealing your work so it lasts\n\n  \nPrerequisite: No experience needed\nMin # of Students: 4\nMax # of Students: 8\nCost: $65 ($10 materials fee paid to instructor)\nDate: Saturdays\, February 6 and 13 ( 10 am to 1 pm)\nInstructor: Carson Eddy \nClasses that do not meet the minimum enrollment will be canceled.
