Emerging Technologies at Brandeis MakerLab and Weston AIC
September 10, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Free
Curious about applied Design Thinking and what is possible with Emerging Technology? Want to see what kinds of tools and projects have been happening at the Brandeis MakerLab? In this 1 hour presentation, Ian Roy will dive into the toolsets and possibilities supported by the Research Technology and Innovation (RTI) department at Brandeis University through the Brandeis MakerLab, Automation Lab, and the Digital Scholarship Lab. We will walk through pictures and videos of a variety of projects across the disciplines, from supporting Archeology Digs with 3D scanning for cultural patrimony and landscape analysis, to 3D printing biomolecules for Biophysics, to art projects driven by robots, to the latest startups created by student entrepreneurs. Our goal is to cover enough of a variety of projects to inspire and unlock the potential of these tools for the Weston community.
This event is free and open to the public, though space is limited. Registration is required.
Speaker: Ian Roy is the Director for Research Technology and Innovation in Brandeis University’s Library. He is also the Founding Head of the Brandeis MakerLab and an Adjunct Professor at the Brandeis International Business School – and a Lecturer in the Anthropology Department. Ian currently serves on the board of the Weston Art & Innovation Center.
