Introduction to Castables

An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, repeating until November 9, 2021

Introduction to Castables is an entry level course encompassing the full design process, from ideation to final execution. Starting with exercises in ideation, sketching, and 3d modelling, you will eventually fabricate your concepts into real metal. Using the design process, you will be able to create your own custom jewelry, chess pieces, sculptures, medallions and more!

Covered processes include dynamic sketching, orthographic sketching, CAD (Fusion 360), 3d printing, rapid prototyping, mold making basics, and low melt metal casting.

***Please note: No previous experience in design or prototyping is necessary for this course, but the two prerequisite courses are mandatory (Dynamic Sketching and Introduction to 3D Modeling).***

Cost: $475 (for series of 7 classes)

Instructor: James Gildea is an Industrial Designer from Weston, Massachusetts. James founded Conquer, an adaptive sportswear brand, and designs consumer electronics and aviation related products. James teaches 3 classes at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA, related to design process, material science, and manufacturing technology. He’s passionate about aerospace, electric guitars and additive manufacturing.
