Sports Photography Workshop: Tips and Tricks to Get the Shot!
October 8 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm$80.00
Want to capture some memories of your child in sports? Join us to learn how to leverage camera settings and post-production techniques for sports photography. This workshop will be broken down into two sessions:
Session One: Meet for 1 hour in a classroom to learn the basic principles and required camera settings of photographing moving players at night, getting to know your camera, and then move onto the football field (for 90 minutes) to shoot a high school game. (2.5 hours total time)
Session Two: Use those football photos to learn basic post-production techniques to make your photos come to life. (90 minutes)
Equipment Recommendations: This workshop is best suited to participants with a DLSR camera, mirrorless camera, or higher-end digital superzoom cameras. These are cameras with a viewfinder (you look through to frame the shot), have modes (shutter priority, aperture priority), and the ability to adjust the ISO settings. All DLSR and mirrorless cameras will work, many Superzoom cameras will also, consult (download) your instruction manual for details. A laptop with your favorite photo editing software for session two is also highly encouraged as we learn basic post-production cropping and adjustments.
Dates: Fri, Oct 8th, 6-8:30pm (Weston High School Media Forum and Proctor Field for Weston vs Mashpee football game) AND Sat, Oct 9th, 3-4:30pm at the Weston Art & Innovation Center
Instructor: Dr. Lee McCanne is the Director of Technology for the Weston Schools and Town. A lifelong photographer, he started with sports photography by capturing his own children at various games and enjoyed it so much he started sharing the photos with the team.
