Build a Weather Station

Join us for a multi-disciplinary, multi-generational project to design, build, and deploy a weather station at the AIC. The station will gather weather data and make it available on the web. In the first 4-week session, participants will complete project launch tasks. Tasks will include specifying requirements, defining the hardware and software architecture, and initial prototyping. Meeting at the AIC on Sunday afternoons and on Zoom Thursday evenings, students will learn:

  • Project definition and management
  • Embedded system design and programming
  • Mechanical design
  • Full stack web programming
  • Data analysis

This class is suited for all ages (Middle School and up). No special skills or experience needed.

Cost: $50

Session 1: Sundays at the AIC, beginning Sep 26th, 3-4:30pm (Sep 26th, Oct 3rd, Oct 10th and Oct 17th) AND Thursdays on Zoom, beginning Sep 30th, 7-8:30pm (Sep 30th, Oct 7th, Oct 14th and Oct 21st)

Instructor: Mariano Fernandez is a Software Engineer at Simplisafe, Inc. in Boston. He has 30 years of industry experience and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Brown University.
