SUMMARY:Reading Room Music: Jonathan Gertler
DESCRIPTION:The Reading Room Music Series  is thrilled to welcome Weston’s own Jonathan Gertler! \n\n\nCapturing a pure acoustic sound\, Gertler’s songs feature clean guitar tones\, supportive instrumentals and clear vocals\, aiming at minimum production density and an organic feeling. “I hope the simpler it gets\, the better it gets. When you say less but express more\, the song stays central\,” he explained. Here’s a review of his album No Fear:   https://amplifymusicmag.com/ \n\nGertler knows about heart\, both metaphorical and literal. He spent years as a vascular surgeon\, exposed to life-and-death choices and things most people never see; that way of life affects his music—a willingness to take risks to get to a better place without putting people in harm’s way. \n\nThe evening will feature songs from prior albums\, as well as the forthcoming album “Unfinished Business” which is to be released on Rockridge Music this spring. Jonathan will be joined by Sal Difusco on guitar\, Joe Santerre on bass\, Jon Chase on percussion and vocals\, and special guest vocalist\, Joelle Lurie! \n\n\nCheck out Jonathan on the AIC’s Reading Room Music on Spotify at bit.ly/RRMS-radio! The playlist features all of our performers past and present. As future acts get booked\, they’ll be added. \n\n\nGrab seats and refreshments (including beer and wine)\, starting at 7pm.  The music will begin at 7:30pm. \n\n  \n  \n\n

SUMMARY:Reading Room Music: Lily Vakili (duo) of Vakili Band
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome Lily Vakili and Joel Dorow (the Duo Project) of the Vakili band to the Reading Room Music Series! \n\nLily Vakili’s music has been described as “upp[ing] the emotional and political ante with … punchy tunes\, delivered from a strong female perspective” (Relix Mag) and “an electric blend of Rock\, Soul & Psychedelia…” (Under The Radar); and her voice as “compelling the way the first Patti Smith music gripped a listener\, the Swans’ Jarboe enthralled or even Nico startled” (Americana Highways). Her most recent project is the solo EP Tannersville\, has been called a “casual\, pensive\, yet intensely luxuriant showcase” by Americana Highways. \n\n\n“Life beats you down\, no doubt.  But if you have something to say…” she pauses\, then continues\, “my songs speak to people who know – whether it’s about desire\, love\, loss or defiance – they’ve been there in their own uniquely profound\, but universal way. That’s the mystery\, and the hope.”  To learn more\, check out vakiliband.com \nJoining Lily is long-time Vakili Band collaborator\, harmonica player and fellow Iowan\, Joel Dorow. \n\nCheck out the Vakili Band and all of our performers past and present on the AIC’s Reading Room Music on Spotify at bit.ly/RRMS-radio!  As future acts are booked\, they’ll be added. \n\nGrab seats and refreshments (including beer and wine)\, starting at 7pm.  The show will start at 7:30pm. \n\n

SUMMARY:Won't You Come Out to Play: The Beatles and the Music of the White Album
DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand\, the AIC is hosting another Beatles night! This time\, join us for an immersive multimedia journey into the music and musicianship of the Beatles’ monumental White Album. Go behind the scenes in the recording of this wide-ranging album through sound\, images\, and live musical demonstrations. \nThe Beatles (White Album)\, 1968’s generous and back-to-basics approach turned 180º from the opulent psychedelia of Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour. From “Blackbird” to “Revolution 9\,” the collection of 30 new tracks showcases the band’s growing musicianship in all directions\, just as it demonstrates command over an amazing display of stylistic diversity. \nThe evening will be hosted by multi-instrumentalist and Beatles musicologists Jack Petruzzelli and Cameron Greider\, who have worked with a veritable who’s who of rock and popular music from Patti Smith\, Sara Bareilles\, and Chris Cornell\, to Joan Baez\, Joan Osborne\, and Rufus Wainwright. Their Beatles’ resumes are equally impressive: Jack is a founding member of the world’s premiere Beatles cover band\, the Fab Faux (along with longtime David Letterman bassist Will Lee)\, and Cameron has toured internationally with John Lennon’s son Sean. The two are also founders\, along with Beatles scholar Dr. Walter Everett\, of RPM School\, which teaches interactive courses in the Beatles’ music. \nSpace is limited! Last year’s Beatles event sold out- get your tickets now! \nMany thanks to the Margaret Stewart Lindsay Foundation for their generous support of this event. \n\nMARGARET STEWART LINDSAY FOUNDATION \n\nThis program is supported in part by a grant from the Weston Cultural Council\, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency. \n \n

SUMMARY:I Want to Tell You: The Beatles and the Music of Revolver
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an immersive multimedia journey into the music and musicianship of the Beatles’ revolutionary Revolver album. Go behind the scenes in the recording of this ground-breaking album through sound\, images\, and live musical demonstrations. A meet-and-greet with the artists will follow the event. Tickets are $15 each. Space is limited! Purchase tickets here. \nThe evening will be hosted by multi-instrumentalist and Beatles musicologists\nJack Petruzzelli and Cameron Greider\, who have worked with a veritable who’s\nwho of rock and popular music from Patti Smith\, Sara Bareilles\, and Chris\nCornell\, to Joan Baez\, Joan Osborne\, and Rufus Wainwright. Their Beatles’\nresumes are equally impressive: Jack is a founding member of the world’s\npremiere Beatles cover band\, the Fab Faux (along with longtime David\nLetterman bassist Will Lee)\, and Cameron has toured internationally with John\nLennon’s son Sean. The two are also founders\, along with Beatles scholar Dr.\nWalter Everett\, of RPM School\, which teaches interactive courses in the\nBeatles’ music.
