SUMMARY:My Portrait: Textile Arts Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Put your selfies to good use\, have fun creating a fabric rendition of you or a loved one’s image! \nChoose solid and printed fabric to build an outline and base\, then we will use a variety of thread\, floss\, paint and inks to create depth. Hand and machine embroidery techniques add texture and define details. Final embellishments add whimsy and balance to your composition. Your completed portrait will be mounted on a wooden frame. Please note required: a selfie or portrait emailed to the instructor in advance. Reminder materials fee paid to instructor day of class. SUMMARY:Intuitive Modern Quilting: Foundation Quilting
DESCRIPTION:During this three session workshop\, Kathy Aluia\, will be teaching students the foundation of quilting. This is a ruler-free\, pattern-free\, judgement-free basic quilting class for beginners and sewers of all experience levels hoping to experiment with a more improvisational approach. Explore and play with color theory and relationships\, composition\, and improvisation while learning hand- and machine-sewing construction techniques\, quilting methods\, and binding. We will be working with 100% cotton solid fabrics. Students will learn several clever shortcuts and efficiency tips along the way. We will discuss methods for finishing your project based on completed size. Students will purchase a Materials Kit from the instructor.
