DESCRIPTION:The AIC is pleased to introduce an Upcycle with Embroidery Class for Teens. In this class\, students will learn 6 fundamental embroidery stitches and add an embroidered floral motif to an upcycled sweatshirt. Please bring a pre-worn sweatshirt or hoodie to class.  \nA wide range of embroidery floss and stick-and-stitch floral motifs will be available for use in designing on your sweatshirt. Take home your embroidery samples\, your embellished sweatshirt\, and an embroidery kit that includes a 6-inch wooden embroidery hoop\, embroidery floss\, embroidery needles\, a threader\, and an illustrated information packet to help you continue stitching at home. Open to Grades 6-9. DESCRIPTION:In this 4 day Introduction to Robotics Series\, students will learn how to use the Arduino microcontroller to interact with the world through robotics. With a project oriented approach\, students will be building their own projects with a high level of customizability and independence with instructor guidance. Students will be creating things such as robot grippers\, auto light switches\, and pipe freeze warning systems. Each class will be focused on small projects\, which culminate into a bigger final project. SUMMARY:Teen Summer Series: Craft with Cricut
DESCRIPTION:This summer series is all about the fun ways that crafts and creativity intersect with digital technology on a Cricut cutting machine. \nStudents will learn the essentials of vector design as well as explore every aspect of Cricut Design Space. They will have the opportunity to personalize stickers\, decals\, bags\, and cards. They will work on their own Cricut Joy machine\, as well as learning to use the different heat presses that we have at the AIC.  \nTeens will walk away with digital skills that they can use to be endlessly creative or even start a small business. The best part? They get to walk away with a new Cricut Joy! Registration closes July 19. \n  \nAll materials included. \nThis class is open for those entering 6th-12th grade. \n  \nMinimum Number of Students: 2 \nMaximum Number of Students: 4 \nCost: $320 (all materials and Cricut Joy included) \nDate: July 24th-26th\, 9am-1pm \nInstructor: Abby \n  \nJust a friendly reminder that classes which do not meet the minimum enrollment requirements will be canceled.
