SUMMARY:Printmaking: Beginners Lino Series
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday Morning Series – 7 Classes \nWhat you carve away matters as much as what remains. Discover the joy of relief printmaking in this beginner linoleum block printing workshop. Guided by instructor Jerman Montañez\, you’ll learn to carve\, ink\, and print your own original linocut designs. Clear demonstrations and plenty of individual attention in a supportive small-group setting make this hands-on workshop truly welcoming for first-time printmakers. Purchase of materials is required. \nLimited seats available. Registration closes January 3. \nThis workshop centers on a meaningful creative idea: carving as a form of memory-making. As you cut into the block\, you’ll consider what gets removed\, what remains\, and what finally gets pressed onto the page. You’ll start by sketching an idea\, transfer it to your linoleum block\, carve it\, then roll on ink and pull prints you can hold in your hands. Whether you’ve never carved a block or you’re curious to try printmaking for the first time\, bring your ideas and memories. Every print you make will be uniquely your own. \nWhat you’ll learn in this printmaking workshop: \n\nTransferring a drawing onto a linoleum block\nSafe\, controlled carving with linoleum cutters and gouges\nThinking in reverse: positive and negative space in relief printing\nRolling out and applying ink evenly with a brayer\n\n  \nPrerequisite: No experience needed \nMin # of Students: 4 \nMax # of Students: 8 \nCost: $165 (plus cost of materials) \nDate: 7 Wednesdays (10am-12:30pm) Starting Jan 6 (Jan 6\, 13\, 20\, 27\, Feb 3\, 10 & 17) \nInstructor:  Jerman Montañez \n  \nClasses that do not meet the minimum enrollment will be canceled.

SUMMARY:Watercolor: Color Theory Series
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday Evening Series: 7 Classes\nUnlock the language of color! This hands-on watercolor series is designed for painters who want to mix with confidence and intention. You will be guided by instructor Sally Meding to build a solid foundation in color theory — exploring hue\, value\, intensity\, and temperature — and learn how these properties interact on paper. From the first mix\, you’ll discover how to create tints and tones from your primaries\, blend secondary and tertiary colors\, and mix rich greys and deep blacks using complementary pairs. Students are required to provide their own materials. \nLimited seats available. Registration closes Mar 28. \nWhat to expect: \nA centerpiece of the class is building your own split-primary color wheel — an essential tool for accurate\, vibration-free color mixing. You’ll practice three mixing approaches: wet palette blending\, layering on paper\, and spattering for texture and depth. \nBecause color behaves differently in watercolor than any other medium\, we’ll also explore properties unique to the medium: granulation\, transparency vs. opacity\, and lifting vs. staining pigments. As time allows\, we’ll experiment with popular color schemes and learn how to establish a “mother color” — a unifying tint that brings harmony to any painting. \nWhat you’ll learn: \n\nHue\, value\, intensity\, and color temperature\nMixing tints\, tones\, secondaries\, tertiaries\, grays\, and darks\nBuilding and using a split-primary color wheel\nWatercolor properties: granulation\, transparency\, opacity\, lifting\, and staining\nPalette mixing\, wet-in-wet layering\, and spattering techniques\nColor schemes and creating color harmony with a “mother color”\n\n  \nPrerequisite: Beginner Watercolor Painting or Advanced Beginner Watercolor Painting \nMin # of Students: 6 \nMax # of Students: 12 \nCost: $175 (plus materials list) \nDate: 7 Wednesdays (1:00 pm-3:30 pm) Mar 3\, 10\, 17\, 24\, 31\, Apr 7\, 14 \nInstructor: Sally Meding \n  \nClasses that do not meet the minimum enrollment will be canceled.
