SUMMARY:Tech Certifications: 3D Printer\, Laser Cutter\, Cricut Maker
DESCRIPTION:Tech certifications are available by appointment. Learn the basics of either the 3D printer\, laser cutter\, or Cricut in a one-hour crash course at the AIC.  \nCertifications can be held for one or two people. Cost is $25 per person and payment will be collected on the day of the class by card or cash. \n  \n3D printing and Cricut certifications can be adapted for children 6-12 years old. Child(ren) must be accompanied by an adult.  \nReserve an appointment for certification here. \n  \n\n3D Printer Certification\n3D printers can create prototypes\, replacement parts\, toys\, jewelry\, and much more in a matter of minutes with minimal training to get started. Sign up to this class to learn the basics of 3D printing. \nAfter going over the fundamental concepts of 3D printing\, each student will learn how to find and prepare digital files for our Prusa 3D printers. Each student will complete a print. Beginners welcome! No 3D modeling experience required. \nUpon completion of this class\, students will be permitted to use the AIC Prusa printers during open maker hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays. \n\nCricut Maker Certification\nAttention crafters: if you’re looking for a new tool that can simplify your crafting processes\, consider learning about the Cricut Maker! \nThe Cricut Maker can cut\, draw\, perforate\, score\, and even engrave! It cuts through more than 100 types of materials\, including all kinds of fabric\, textiles\, paper\, vinyl\, craft foam\, and wood veneer. \nThis machine can cut out dozens of identical felt hearts\, or a delicate lacy paper wedding invitation. Customize everything from a coffee mug to a tee shirt in just a few clicks. \nCricut machines are easy to use and only limited by your imagination! \n\nLaser Cutter Certification\nMeet the AIC’s laser cutter! Laser cutters are incredible tools for any maker. You can make everything from simple boxes to highly detailed engravings and complex 3-dimensional puzzles. \nWho uses laser cutting technology? Artists\, architects\, manufacturers\, robotics engineers\, and small business owners! You can cut extremely accurate objects out of materials like wood\, leather\, colored acrylic\, and even felt or paper. These powerful machines can make your projects lightning fast and repeatable. \nIn this certification class\, you will learn how to safely operate a laser cutter to cut and engrave wood. You will be introduced to Lightburn software and create a customized keychain to bring home with you. \nCertified individuals will be permitted to use the laser cutter during maker hours with supervision. \nPrerequisite: Age 16+

We will be hosting a Tea Bag Bookmark Project from 10 am to 12:30 pm (while supplies last). DESCRIPTION:Welcome students\, artists\, makers\, and the craft curious! \nOpen Maker Hours are dedicated to anyone who would like to use either of our studio spaces to work independently on personal projects. You are welcome to use our equipment (3D printers\, Cricut Makers\, and/or Sewing Machines) once you have been certified.* Open Maker Hours is intended for those who are aged middle school plus. Children UNDER the age of 12 MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times.  \n$5 Maker fee paid at the door\, cash or credit card. \n*To be certified on our equipment please sign up for one of our Certifications or register for Sewing Fundamentals. If certified patrons would like to make an appointment with Abby to use the laser please sign up here. \nJust a friendly reminder that you must provide your own materials and there is no instruction provided unless otherwise stated. The equipment may not be available as it is first come first serve. DESCRIPTION:Let’s celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! \nDid you know that on the night before Saint Patrick’s Day\, leprechauns get up to all sorts of mischief? A leprechaun trap is used to catch them in the act! Set out your trap the night before Saint Patrick’s Day and see in the morning whether a leprechaun visited. Some escaped leprechauns even leave behind a treasure! \nFor this all-ages drop-in activity\, we will be making leprechaun traps from household items and craft supplies. Bring in a shoebox or small shipping box if you can. \n  \nAll ages are welcome.
