The class will be 2.5 hours long and will include time for light refreshments and a brief history of the Nantucket Lightship Basket. At the end of the class\, you will have made your own piece of wearable art! \nThe iconic weaving style of the Nantucket Lightship Basket is native to our shores\, as it began off the coast of Nantucket during the late 1800s. DESCRIPTION:This relaxed watercolor class is geared towards watercolor students who have taken a beginner class and are more familiar with the main watercolor techniques. \nThis class will be project-based and any techniques required for the particular project will be reviewed. The projects will include subjects like fruit and vegetables\, flowers that are not too complex\, landscapes with a tree and/or barn\, seascapes with a boat or lighthouse\, a leaf\, and bird or animal. All the line drawings for each project will be provided to trace or freehand draw with live demonstrations of each step in the painting process (including color mixing). We will work on a number of skill-building exercises and small paintings\, including the main 3 washes\, dry brush\, sgraffito\, spattering and lifting out techniques. We will work on making objects feel 3-dimensional (value and form) and will briefly touch on perspective.
