SUMMARY:Watercolor: Color Theory Series
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday Evening Series: 7 Classes\nUnlock the language of color! This hands-on watercolor series is designed for painters who want to mix with confidence and intention. You will be guided by instructor Sally Meding to build a solid foundation in color theory — exploring hue\, value\, intensity\, and temperature — and learn how these properties interact on paper. From the first mix\, you’ll discover how to create tints and tones from your primaries\, blend secondary and tertiary colors\, and mix rich greys and deep blacks using complementary pairs. \nLimited seats available. Registration closes October 31. \nWhat to expect: \nA centerpiece of the class is building your own split-primary color wheel — an essential tool for accurate\, vibration-free color mixing. You’ll practice three mixing approaches: wet palette blending\, layering on paper\, and spattering for texture and depth. \nBecause color behaves differently in watercolor than any other medium\, we’ll also explore properties unique to the medium: granulation\, transparency vs. opacity\, and lifting vs. staining pigments. As time allows\, we’ll experiment with popular color schemes and learn how to establish a “mother color” — a unifying tint that brings harmony to any painting. \nWhat you’ll learn: \n\nHue\, value\, intensity\, and color temperature\nMixing tints\, tones\, secondaries\, tertiaries\, grays\, and darks\nBuilding and using a split-primary color wheel\nWatercolor properties: granulation\, transparency\, opacity\, lifting\, and staining\nPalette mixing\, wet-in-wet layering\, and spattering techniques\nColor schemes and creating color harmony with a “mother color”\n\n  \nPrerequisite: Beginner Watercolor Painting or Advanced Beginner Watercolor Painting \nMin # of Students: 6 \nMax # of Students: 12 \nCost: $165 (plus materials list) \nWhat to Bring: Materials List (required) \nDate: 7 Tuesdays (6:30 pm-9:00 pm) Nov 3\, 10\, 17\, 24\, Dec 1\, 8\, 15 \nInstructor: Sally Meding \n  \nClasses that do not meet the minimum enrollment will be canceled.
