SUMMARY:Drawing Composition: Exploring Image Possibilities
DESCRIPTION:During this six week-long class we will explore how the arrangement of line\, shape\, tonality\, texture and space can contribute to the creation of unique and personal works of art.   \nStarting with direct observation and inquisitive exploration of a range of subjects\, students will create a number of drawings using a variety of technical and conceptual approaches to image making. Considering compositional elements such as balance\, contrast\, focus\, rhythm and symmetry/asymmetry we will construct images that draw the viewer in and encourage their eye to move throughout the picture plane. \nInstruction will focus on dry media but students are invited to bring additional materials of their choice. Throughout the course we will look at the work of other artists\, have group discussions and critiques.  Open to students with some drawing experience and to those who are interested in expanding their painting\, collage and printmaking skills. \n***This class is part of a series. Please register here.*** \nMaterials List \nMinimum Number of Students: 3 \nMaximum Number of Students: 10 \nCost: $300 \nDate: Six classes beginning Mar 3 (Mar 3\, 10\, 17\, 24\, 31 & Apr 3) \nInstructor: Linda Bond’s drawings and installations have been exhibited widely including shows at Clark University\, Delaware State University\, Brandeis University\, Simmons College\, the Brattleboro Museum\, the Cape Cod Art Museum\, B’NK’R Munich\, Germany\, and Museo de Arte de Zapopan\, Jalisco\, Mexico. Her large solo show at the Human Rights Institute Gallery at Kean University in 2017 included her installation “One to One\,” a project she developed with women in Afghanistan as a Resident Scholar at Brandeis Women’s Studies Research Center.
