Directed by Steven Spielberg and inspired by the experiences of Mehran Nasseri, who lived at Charles De Gaulle Airport for fifteen years, this film stars Tom Hanks as Viktor N., an Eastern European traveler stuck at a JFK terminal. Having arrived in New York only to discover that his country is having a violent coup, Viktor finds himself in bureaucratic limbo––unable to enter the US or return home. But Viktor is a resourceful soul with his initial wanderings up and down the concourses becoming the first steps toward a community of fellow travelers.
