Sanjiv Chopra, MD, is Professor of Medicine and served as Faculty Dean for Continuing Medical Education at Harvard Medical School for 12 years. He serves as a Marshall Wolf Distinguished Clinician Educator Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Dr. Chopra has more than 170 publications and 15 books to his credit. Dr. Chopra is Editor-in-Chief of the Hepatology Section of UpToDate, the most widely used electronic textbook in the world subscribed to by more than 1.5 million physicians in 195 countries.

He is a sought after inspirational speaker across the United States and abroad, addressing diverse audiences on topics related to medicine, leadership, happiness, and living with purpose.

He has received numerous awards, including:

1985- Recipient of the George W. Thorn Award for Outstanding Contribution to Clinical Education, presented by the Brigham & Women’s Hospital House staff.

1991- Recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award from the 1991 Graduating Class Harvard Medical School. The citation read: “Outstanding clinician, devoted teacher and mentor. We thank you for your dedication to excellence in teaching.”

1995- Robert S. Stone Award for “Excellence in Teaching Award Presented to Sanjiv Chopra, M.D. on 31st May 1995 in recognition of outstanding qualities of a teacher as determined by faculty, colleagues and students.”

2003- American Gastroenterological Association Distinguished Educator Award

2009- Elected as a Master of the American College of Physicians, a singular honor bestowed to only a select few individuals for being “citizen physicians, educational innovators, scientific thinkers and humanists who inspire those around him or her and sets the standards for quality in medicine.”

2012- Recipient of Ellis Island Medal of Honor for “Exemplifying outstanding qualities in both one’s personal and professional lives while continuing to preserve the richness of one’s particular heritage.”

In this engaging talk, Dr. Chopra will discuss the tenets of happiness based on research and his own reflection and experiences. He will elaborate on the longest-standing study on Adult Happiness… still ongoing 85 years after it was launched. He will mention the Happiest countries in the world. He will tell stories about Albert Schweitzer and Paul Farmer. He believes children are the modern-day philosophers and will discuss their views on Happiness.
