Makerspaces

The Weston Art & Innovation Center is home to two makerspaces which provide the equipment, instruction, and community-building resources to encourage hands-on learning in arts, technology, and fabrication. We invite artists, makers, and other creatives to play, create, and learn in our collaborative environment.

The Toolshed: Discover, Explore

Housed in the original children’s reading room, The Toolshed is a place to roll up your sleeves and get messy. Activities and classes held in this space are floral design, painting, laser cutting, printmaking, and our Fix-It series. The Toolshed’s fabrication equipment includes a laser cutter, printing press, easels, and a wide array of standard tools. These are available for those enrolled in classes, as well as for those who have been trained and approved to use the tools.

The Loft: Design, Build, Create

The building’s original book stacks area has been transformed into The Loft, a light and airy space. Projects and classes taking place here are 3D printing, vinyl cutting, photography and sewing. The Loft’s fabrication equipment includes 3D printers, a vinyl cutter, sewing machines, electronic parts, and soldering tools. These are available for those enrolled in classes and also for those who have been trained and approved to use the tools.

“The Weston AIC is a ‘real educational cultural center allowing for mentoring, exploration, discovery, and sharing of ideas.’”
