Tuesday Afternoon Workshop
Ready to level up your sewing? This hands-on skills class teaches essential seam stitching and finishing techniques used in professional garment-making and home decor projects. This hands-on sewing class is designed for beginners and experienced stitchers alike. You will learn essential machine skills from setup to finished seams. By the end of class, you will be certified to use the sewing machines independently during Open Maker Hours.

Spend the afternoon at the AIC with instructor Carson Eddy and get real machine time practicing four fundamental seaming techniques used by sewists at every level. Whether you’re new to sewing or looking to refine your skills, this focused workshop gives you the foundational knowledge to sew more cleanly and more confidently.
What You Will Learn:
- How to set up a sewing machine for optimal performance
- Winding and loading a bobbin correctly
- Threading the machine and inserting the needle
- Sewing a series of seams used in garment-making and home decor projects
Techniques You Will Practice
- Traditional Seam – the essential seam every sewist needs to master
- French Seam – an enclosed seam perfect for sheer and delicate fabrics
- Flat-Felled Seam – a strong seam ideal for denim, canvas, and sportswear
- Stretch Seam – a seam for stretch fabrics like spandex, jersey, and knits
Prerequisite: No experience needed
