Craft: Papier-Mâché Trays
February 6, 2027 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, repeating until February 13, 2027
Two-Class Saturday Morning Series
This is not your childhood papier-mâché project! Turn humble cardboard and paper into a pair of sculptural decorative trays you’ll actually want on display. Guided by instructor Carson Eddy, this two-session series walks you step by step from flat cardboard to finished, display-worthy pieces. Pre-designed patterns remove the guesswork, and all materials are provided.
Limited seats available. Registration closes February 5.
In the first class, you’ll cut and assemble sturdy cardboard forms from ready-made patterns, then build up the first layers of papier-mâché that give your trays strength and structure. Between sessions, your pieces dry at the studio. When you come back, the fun part begins: you’ll pick your decorative papers, add the final layer, and finish with a protective sealer.
You’ll leave with two one-of-a-kind trays, about 9″ or 11″ long and 5″ or 5.5″ wide. They work well for jewelry, keys, or desk odds and ends, or as a handmade gift. Whether you’re new to paper crafts or just haven’t touched papier-mâché since grade school, all you need to bring is your curiosity and a love of making things with your hands.
What you’ll learn in this papier-mâché workshop:
- Building sturdy cardboard forms from patterns
- Layering papier-mâché for strength and a smooth surface
- Choosing and applying decorative papers for a polished look
- Sealing your work so it lasts
