Instructor: Cheryl Clinton, Cherie to her friends and family, is visual artist and a multi passionate creative entrepreneur. She earned her BFA in painting at Massart and her MFA in Visual Design at UMass Dartmouth. Her passion for art making, sharing the joy of creativity as a tool for personal growth, and a strong desire to heal the world, lead her on a circuitous journey over the past 25 years. Her art teaching career has spanned public schools, private schools, museum schools, and art centers, as well as private mentoring from her studio. She is an active promoter of the arts in Boston and the MetroWest region. She was the coordinator and founder of the former Fountain Street Studios in Framingham, once known as the largest collective of working artists West of Boston. In 2010, Cheryl Clinton co-founded Fountain Street Gallery located in the SOWA Arts District of Boston at 460 Harrison Ave, suite 2C. In addition to art making explorations with students of all ages and abilities, her creative practice includes the study of Reiki and energy medicine. Cheryl’s work is represented in the corporate collections of Meditech, MA and New England Bio Labs, Frankfurt, Germany. Her work is held in numerous private collections nationally and abroad. This series is designed for beginner to intermediate or those looking to re-ignite their creative skills.
Part 1 (Sept 29, Oct 6, 13 & 27): the first four sessions will focus on the basics of drawing and observational skills through exercises focusing on line, shape, form and value. Our conversations will cover basic drawing supplies. Most of our drawing work will focus on dry media, including but not limited to: graphite charcoal and colored pencils.
Part 2 (Nov 10, 17, Dec 1, 8): the second four sessions will build on our drawing foundation and move into introductory painting skills. Wet media options will include watercolor, gouache and/or acrylic paints. Composition, color value, color mixing demos and experiments will allow you to play with paint and build confidence. We will experiment with realistic an abstract exercises. Come with an open mind, be prepared to get messy, experiment and play! Registration closes Sept 27.
