Fiber Art: Ultra Suede Origami Bag
February 4, 2027 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
$65.00
Thursday Morning Workshop
Ready to sew something people will ask about? This intermediate class takes you from basic stitching to a polished, boutique-worthy bag. This hands-on, small-group class at the Weston Art and Innovation Maker Space takes your machine skills further. Choose from three winter-toned Ultra Suede fabrics, plus linings and thread, and leave with a finished Japanese-style origami bag and detailed reference packet.
Limited seats available. Registration closes February 3.
You already know how to thread a machine and sew a straight seam. Now it’s time to sew with precision. You’ll work with a specialty fabric that doesn’t forgive pin holes, build a fully lined bag, and learn the finishing techniques that make handmade look professionally made. Maybe you’ve completed our Fundamentals of Sewing class, or maybe you’ve been sewing on your own. Either way, join us, and we’ll take it to the next level.
What you’ll learn in this sewing class:
- Handling Ultra Suede and other specialty fabrics: using clips instead of pins, and choosing the right needle and stitch length
- Cutting accurately and keeping seam allowances consistent
- Folding and shaping an origami-style bag
Prerequisite: Fundamental sewing machine experience
