Intermediate Painting: Paint Application and Color (Zoom)

Instructor: Nicholas Mancini (Born Swampscott, MA) received his BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and his MFA from Boston University. He has been a resident artist in Cincinnati, OH, Stavern, Norway and Concord, MA. Awards include the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant, Anderson Ranch Printmaking Scholarship and John Walker Graduate Award. Nicholas’ work encompasses painting, drawing and printmaking. He currently teaches at Boston University, RISD, and Montserrat College of Art.
Join Nicholas Mancini on Zoom to explore paint application, glazing, mark making and other techniques, with an emphasis on color. In this course students will learn advanced oil painting techniques to help enrich their artistic voice and visual expression. Projects will begin with representational subject matter like still life and landscape, however students can explore other subject matter in more personal projects. Classes will include demonstrations, discussions highlighting examples from art history, and group critiques. This course is intended for students who have taken an introductory painting course and/or have some basic experience working with oils. Students are more than welcome to come to the AIC and use the space during class time.
