September 16 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
An event every day that begins at 10:00 am, repeating until September 17, 2022
Instructor: KATHY ALUIA. I trace my passion for textile arts back to the hours I spent sitting on the floor underneath my great grandmother’s treadle sewing machine. Always happiest with needle, thread and fabric in my hands, I grew up creating my own designs, acquiring and honing my skills. I’ve had the honor and pleasure of spending more than 20 years teaching and facilitating classes in the full range of textile arts: quilting, sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, weaving and dyeing. My ongoing desire is to inspire people of all ages to play and create without fear, working from an organic and intuitive place.
Join instructor Kathy Aluia in the loft to make a 20” x 20” quilted modern wall hanging incorporating two to four solid fabrics. Learn the basics of machine piecing the four, 6” square blocks that make up this simple but bold design. We will cover efficient cutting techniques, machine piecing, hand and machine quilting methods, and binding. We will discuss options for mounting and hanging your project. Materials list will be provided after registration. Registration closes Sep 10.
