Thursday Morning Workshop
Immersive hands-on workshop exploring the rich history and timeless craft of Sashiko. Join instructor Mariko Sugimori visible mender and Sashiko expert, for an exploration of the traditional Japanese technique of reinforcing worn fabric and repairing textiles through beautiful, geometric hand-stitching.
In this beginner-friendly workshop you’ll discover how this centuries-old practice has evolved from a functional mending method into a celebrated form of textile art — and you’ll leave with real skills you can use to extend the life of your favorite garments.

Whether you’re passionate about slow fashion, sustainable clothing repair, Japanese embroidery, or simply love learning new hand-craft skills, this workshop is for you.

What to Bring: Want to work on your own clothes? Bring any woven (non-stretchy) garment you’d like to mend or reinforce, and Mariko will help you apply the technique directly to your own piece.
