Instructor: Kathy Petronzio
Kathy started weaving in a local class while living in South Carolina, and very quickly fell in love with basketry. She quickly expanded her education while in Japan on deployment with her husband and sons; she was invited to study with local master weavers and soon began actively teaching classes. She is influenced by her love and intricacy of Japanese basketry as well as the beauty, tradition and usefulness of Nantucket and Shaker basketry. She has and continues to exhibit in shows across the Northeastern United States, both group and juried art exhibits and teaches in Massachusetts, Virginia and North Carolina.
Join instructor Kathy Patronzio in the Toolshed to create your very own Nantucket Style Wine Chiller. This traditional Nantucket basket is 9″ tall and 5″ round. Students will use an insulated wine chiller as a mold to weave their basket. The spokes are reed and the weaving is hamburg cane. Traditional Nantucket methods will be taught. This is a fun basket to make and makes a lovely gift! This is a full day workshop so please be prepared to take a break. Registration closes Feb 1.
**Please bring sharp scissors, a small bucket for water, an old towel, a small awl and pencil to class.**
