Craft: Joomchi Paper Felting
January 30, 2027 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
$55.00
Saturday Morning Workshop
Part paper-making, part felting, part collage. In this workshop, we will explore Joomchi, a traditional Korean paper-craft technique. You will learn a brief history of this centuries-old art, practice core techniques, and discover how artists use Joomchi today.
Limited seats available. Registration closes January 29.
By layering sheets of Hanji (Korean mulberry paper) and working them with water and steady hand agitation, you’ll watch the fibers bond into a single strong, textured, painterly surface. Whether you’re drawn to paper-making, felting, or simply making things by hand, just bring your curiosity and a willingness to get your hands wet.
What you’ll learn:
- A brief history of Joomchi and its role in Korean society
- Layering techniques for building texture, color, and pattern
- Hand agitation methods for bonding fibers into a single sheet
What you’ll take home:
Your own handmade Joomchi paper samples, ready to frame, stitch into a wearable, integrate into a bound book, or work into your next collage.
