Sewing Fundamentals: Velvet Scarf
January 6, 2027 @ 12:00 am
$45.00
Thursday Morning Workshop
Always wanted to sew but didn’t know where to start? This hands-on, small-group class introduces you to the sewing machines, tools, and equipment available in the Weston Art and Innovation Maker Space. You’ll choose your favorite gemstone-colored velvet and thread, sew a cozy scarf, and head home with your finished piece and a handy reference packet.
Limited seats available. Registration closes on January 5.
Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine or just need a refresher, bring your curiosity and we’ll handle the rest. Set up a sewing machine, wind a bobbin, and thread it yourself, then put those new skills to work. Best of all, you’ll leave certified to use the AIC sewing machines independently during Open Maker Hours.
What you’ll learn:
- How to set up the AIC sewing machines
- Winding a bobbin and threading the machine
- Basic machine stitching and guiding fabric
- Sewing a finished project from start to finish
Prerequisite: No experience needed
Min # of Students: 3
Max # of Students: 6
Cost: $45 (materials included)
Date: Thursday, January 7
